Uncertainty Assessment in Dasymmetric Mapping

چکیده

Dasymmetric mapping is an areal interpolation method which transfer data from the source zones to the target zones. Although many dasymmetric mapping methods have been developed, few research have been conducted from accuracy assessment perspective. This paper reviews the methods which can be used to serve this purpose. Three methods were experimented: (1) cartographic mapping, (2) summary statistics, and (3) sequential simulation. A dasymetric mapping method based on geostatistics is used to illustrate the methods. In assessing the uncertainty and accuracy of a dasymetric mapping method, it is suggested that all three methods should be considered in order to achieve a comprehensive description.
